There would have been a cover on here with a door held on with a few little bits, but we've removed those and got it all open already. Now you can see the main guts of your panel. You have all your breakers here for the different circuits in the home. Over on this end, you have the main breaker that shuts the power off to the house. However, even if this breaker is shut off, there are still live and deadly lugs under the panel for the main service coming into the house. There is no reason to remove this panel or do anything without an electrician. Just remember, once the main power is off, all the breakers in this area are dead, but everything from this point on is still alive. This panel is hung horizontally, while you're probably more familiar with panels hanging vertically. This one is horizontal due to space restrictions. Now, let's move on to the installation of the breakers. If you're not comfortable with this, it's best to hire a certified electrician. This is dangerous and life-threatening if not done correctly.
